Drinking Safe
Organic coffee, tea, and fruit juices are usually safe for people with sulphite sensitivity.
Organic root beer and other carbonated beverages should be fine, as long as the ingredient list doesn’t include caramel color or sulphites.
Some individuals find organic wines are safe, while others may find that even a low-sulphite wine with 10 parts per million of sulphites is intolerable. Ask at your local liquor store – and be aware that their staff may not know anything about sulphite allergies and contents.
Many microbreweries offer beer made without preservatives, which may be sulphite free. But don’t forget – they still start with barley and hops that may have been somehow preserved.
Clear alcohol such as vodka and rum may also be OK. There are recipes on the internet for making your own liqueurs, such as Irish cream or khalua using vodka as a base.
